Animal/Pet Reiki Information
The practice of Reiki is a Japanese healing art that has been practiced for the last one hundred years. The word Reiki comes from the Japanese word (Rei) which means “Universal Life” and (Ki) which means “Energy”. Reiki is not affiliated with any religion or religious practice belief or suggestion. It is a subtle and effective form of energy work using guided life force energy of the practitioner and participant.
All living things on this earth have life force energy, including our four-legged family members. Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. Animal Reiki is another form of the practice Reiki, focused on the healing, relaxation and calming of the animal participant. Reiki is a non-invasive, hands-on healing modality that promotes mental relaxation/calming and physical healing for animals and their caregivers. It can be hard for caregivers to witness the aftermath of the mistreatment of animals. Animal Reiki helps re-center the caregivers' emotions, allowing them to be present, to be grounded and to have clarity in moments of duress. The ability to set aside our personal emotions allows us to be present in the healing process of the animal we are trying to help and to be in a space of non-judgment, balance, and compassion for the animal.
Reiki is internationally recognized by institutions such as the National Institute of Health for its positive effects on the holistic health and healing for both animals and humans. Worldwide acceptance of Animal Reiki now includes the increasing number of case studies that illustrate how positive the addition of a Reiki treatment has reduced stress, managed pain, and expedites overall healing to both animals and humans. When the entire body is relaxed, the mind is grounded, and the spirit is still, healing from within occurs as nature intended.
Reiki is proving useful in a wide variety of home, hospital, and animal shelter settings as it can be safely practiced at animal rescues, within the comfort of home, and in veterinary settings to reduce stress, address trauma, and forge meaningful connections with animals as a complement to their normal care routine. Reiki is safe and allows the natural healing practice to help dogs, cats, horses, and other natural wonders with a wide range of issues and conditions. Reiki is a perfect complement to traditional veterinary care.
Another technique widely utilized by practitioner is Animal Distance Reiki for pets which can also be helpful in animal healing. Distance Reiki is performed when the animal can remain in the comfort of your own home, hospital, or shelter while the practitioner sends Reiki healing from a distance. Distance sessions can be particularly beneficial for larger dogs, horses, cows, and other large animals that aren’t easily transported.
Animal Reiki may be utilized to:
Promote relaxation, especially in times of stress, during fireworks or a thunderstorm, or prior to a vet visit
Support the whole-body healing process after illness or injury
Relieve pain and decrease side effects of medical procedures
Help support animals that are pregnant, ailing, or with chronic or acute health conditions
Provide comfort and physical, mental, and spiritual support for animals and their people at the end of life
Animal Reiki is safe for the animal and provides a holistic healing approach to aid in the healing whether that is mental, physical, or psychological. Services are provided with love and intention of healing your pet. Animals too need to also release those thoughts, feelings that no longer serve them. That is why I do what I do.
